From online to offline.

2 weeks after their social media friendship, they finally met face to face.

The Office for Student Affairs conducted a Leadership Training Seminar for UPM students last October 22-24, 2010 in Ciudad Christhia Resort in San Mateo, Rizal. For most who attended, they were just expecting the usual boring seminar but for two people who have yet to meet each other personally for the first time, this may bring their online friendship to a new level, or so they seem.

On the first day of LTS, they arrived at the venue just in time for dinner. Then came the icebreaker, to which they both spent tweeting each other, even if they were just in the same room. "Hello @rialandingin from the other side of the room!", she said. To which the other replied sometime in their conversation, "Expectations for this seminar? Will we get laid?" Typical Y, you guys. Then came the "show your unusual talent" portion. Everyone formed a circle, then each one should show their unusual talents. What did X do? Her usual stuff, she cracked the corniest jokes to date, jokes which only she laughed at - the others laughed too, but because they found X funny, not her jokes. What about Y? The usual, she didn't do anything. No one noticed that they passed by her in the circle, but X did. When the icebreaker shizz was done with, the instructors told the students they could have the rest of the night to themselves, to have fun. Good thing the students knew how to make the most out of their LTS nights.

On the first night of LTS, most chose to swim (including X) while Y, the buzzkill that she is, was doing org stuff, as usual. Then came the drinking part. Y DM-ed X her number, saying "Just text us guys if you wanna come." Haha, X thought it was just her way of giving her number, nice move. They stayed over room 102, where the drinking spree happened. Almost everyone was drinking, but there's two people who had their own little world. Proof?

On their first night together, they were sitting on the same bed.

Then came the time for X to go back to her room. Y wished she stayed much longer for the sunrise, though. On their first night, they both left each other curious about one another.

That morning, the seminar program resumed. After having a hearty breakfast came a dragging series of talks. What kept them awake was their texting spree 'cause X had Y's number already. ;) Y even suggested that X should do a pole dance by using the flagpoles on the stage. Funny. To which X answered, "Natawa ako mag-isa, k." (I laughed by myself, k.) Then came a series of energizers in which X was always being called in front. And whenever someone was asked to share their reflections and insights, X's friends would point to her, just 'cause. Everyone in the room had the laugh of their lives everytime this happens. X would feel she's the laughingstock but unbeknownst to everyone in the room, someone found it amusing - in a good and cute way. As part of their activity that night, they had their cultural night. X's group danced to the tune of Dancing Queen with accompanying steps which resembled what they did during the seminar (e.g. stir the coffee, ride the waves). Y's group danced too, although she didn't join her group. Meh, usual Y. Buzzkill.

The second night of LTS was what put their friendship to the next level. Y texted X asking for company to buy drinks for another night of drinking. What's funny was that she could've asked any person in the room with her but she asked X who was in her respective room instead. So they bought drinks then Y asked X what she wanted. Hah. Since X loves cheesy junk foods and Cheese Rings were nowhere to be found, she opted for a Cheez-It instead. Come to think of it, Y already gave X #cheese that night. Then they had their own little world in room 102 again, while everyone was drinking. Y dared X to kiss one girl in the room while X wondered why she didn't point to herself instead. (But then that would be giving away too much so nvm). As the night grew, they (alongside other people from the room) went outside to check on the place. Nothing much, they continued talking anyway. What happened this time was instead of going back to her room in the wee hours of the morning, X opted to stay in room 102 instead. As the dawn approaches, X chose to sleep on the vacant bed available. Thing is, it was Y's bed. Nothing happened, k.

On their second night together, they were sleeping on the same bed .

Then again, X had to go back to her room just in time for the morning activities. But before dozing off for a while in her respective room, she texted Y this: "Oops I forgot...Good morning! Sunrise. :)" On their second night, they left each other hanging onto something unknown...just yet.

The seminar activities resumed again. And on one particular activity, they were groupmates. Hah. X was even pointing at Y to work on the IGP since she was the VP for Finance back then. When the time came for groups to present, group 3 was called and X stood. Turns out they were group 5 so everyone in the room laughed at her - what she took notice of was that someone in the room was hiding her laughter, she found it funny and amusing at the same time. Then came the other activities to close the program.

Cheers to those who have witnessed a love that was yet to be discovered.
Red stands for love, so go figure. ;)

For 3 days and 2 nights, two people led their friendship to greater heights. What they imagined to be the ftf counterpart of their awesome online interaction translated well enough in their awesome conversation - more, even. They grew more curious with each other as days passed, alongside their tweets, wallposts, texts and everything in between. They both decided to give their friendship a try, by a certain pig-out movie date which paved way for more dates before they decided to be with each other, for real.

So yes, I'm glad I decided to attend that Leadership Training Seminar and I wouldn't have it any other way. I wouldn't change a single thing because that was what led me to you. It's been a year - I'm thankful as fck I met you, Y. ;)
